Day 30! End of the 30 in 30 Challenge

Day 30 in the Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days Challenge!  The morning started with an incredible sunrise so it was only fitting to honor the last day of the Challenge with a painting of the canyon sunrise.  It is a treat each morning here as I sit and read and watch the changing light on the Snake River Canyon!  The Perrine Bridge is in the distance and the canyon walls reflect the morning light.  Different each day!

Below Johnson Grade

Painted last week with the Plein Air Painters of Idaho.  Nice people to hang out with and good painters too.  While on our painting trek, we discovered places around Hagerman that I had not seen before.  This view looks at Johnson Grade, another semi-secret way to climb out of the canyon.  It is a steep gravel road and an adventure in scenic views.  While painting here we enjoyed the crystal clear water and marsh wildlife along the edges of Billingsley Creek.

Art and Soul Entry

The annual Art and Soul contest will be held in Twin Fall April 19-May 4.  This is a city wide contest that has artists displaying paintings at businesses around town.  It is an opportunity to see art in interesting venues.   I recommend going with friends to see the paintings, and then maybe lunch somewhere!   My painting will be on display at Canyon Crest Restaurant and Event Center.  Stop by, see the artwork, and stay for the view while you have a relaxing lunch or dinner!

Canyon Spring

Back from the snow and skiing up north to spring in the valley. The canyon is beginning to green up for the few months that it looks that way, and this view looking east is one of my favorites.

Snake River Canyon!

Happy New Year!
The sunrise this morning was spectacular over the canyon. Saw a bald eagle gliding along the edge, and base jumpers billowing off the bridge. Good start for the new year!
