Had a wonderful crowd at the Full Moon Gallery opening last night! It was good to see old friends and new. Thanks for being there and wishing the artists well!
This watercolor piece, that is part of my "Wild" series, is hanging at the Twin Falls Center for the Arts in the lobby gallery. I call it my "wild series" since I am using a new technique to add more flow and rhythm to my work and it gets a bit wild with ink going where it wants and dripping as I refill! I use an India ink dropper to do the drawing and add dense watercolor to get the deep colors. Drawing with a dropper does not let me get the tight drawings that I usually do and it loosens up the flowers. I think gives them some movement and life. More of this series to come in the future!

I'm back! Been a long time since I posted!
Gallery Opening at the Twin Falls Center for the Arts on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 5-7p.m.
Come and see my new watercolor paintings in the Full Moon Gallery.
This sunflower piece is on display along with my other new ink and watercolor pieces. The painting is large, 22"x30" watercolor paper and even bigger with mat and frame. It is part of my "WILD" series. Time to break out of old habits and try something new. I am using India ink to do the drawing with wide sweeps and splotches, and adding watercolor to the piece. Great fun!

Jardin de Fleurs
I have wanted to dig back into my long stem series for a while and have combined the flowers from my front yard to create this bigger piece. Somehow digging back into my high school French for flower paintings feels right. This painting and others are on display at the Twin Falls Center for the Arts as part of the South Central Regional Idaho Watercolor Society Show. Good fun and good comments last night at the opening!

Le Bouquet
Art and Soul of the Magic Valley starts tomorrow in Twin Falls. Two full weeks of art on display all around town. This is a pic of my entry for the contest. I am fortunate to have my painting on display at Rosebud's Florist here in Twin Falls. Nice people and a great store. Desiree said she was going to do a look alike bouquet to display near my piece. Cool huh!

The Vi - The Teacup Generation Series
My mother's collection of teacups includes a set of cups with matching side plates which are great for serving a small finger sandwich or a selection of cookies or cake. I love the delicate flowers and nice feel of the handle. My sister and I grew up having tea in real china cups and my aunt would sometimes read the tea leaves. She was a good story teller and we loved the experience. This set has gone unused for some time and I think it is time to get it out and invite some friends over for tea!

One Lump or Two?
This is the beginning of a series of teacups. I am planning to do 30 tea cup paintings! A lofty goal, but I hope that before I am done the teacup paintings will go together in some order to display together. The paintings are small, 5 x 5's, and easily hung together to make a teacup statement. Some paintings will be of traditional china teacup shapes from my mom's collection and inspired by my love of floral designs, and other will be of new cup shapes and designs that echo the attention tea is now getting in the marketplace. I am looking forward to the adventure.

Long Stems Series
The flower garden is in full bloom and the long stems are calling. I started with delphiniums and added the day lilies to the series. I am working on daisies and will add a couple of other varieties of tall flowers as I go along. The series will be hanging at the Twin Falls Center for the Arts during the IWS Regional Show.
