Added this HAWK to the collection at the Full Moon Gallery today.  I got an up close and personal look at this beautiful bird when visiting a Forest Service booth at an art fair.  He was gorgeous and aware.  Surprising that he was not bothered by the crowds.  He simply observed and looked regal.

Wild series

These images are from my new "Wild" series.  Drawing with ink using the dropper right out of the Higgins India ink bottle has been a freeing experience.  Some splatter and rich watercolor pigment makes for bold images.

New Work!

Had a wonderful crowd at the Full Moon Gallery opening last night!  It was good to see old friends and new.  Thanks for being there and wishing the artists well!

This watercolor piece, that is part of my "Wild" series, is hanging at the Twin Falls Center for the Arts in the lobby gallery.  I call it my "wild series" since I am using a new technique to add more flow and rhythm to my work and it gets a bit wild with ink going where it wants and dripping as I refill!  I use an India ink dropper to do the drawing and add dense watercolor to get the deep colors.  Drawing with a dropper does not let me get the tight drawings that I usually do and it loosens up the flowers.   I think gives them some movement and life.  More of this series to come in the future!

I'm back! Been a long time since I posted!

Gallery Opening at the Twin Falls Center for the Arts on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 5-7p.m.   Come and see my new watercolor paintings in the Full Moon Gallery.   This sunflower piece is on display along with my other new  ink and watercolor pieces.  The painting is large, 22"x30" watercolor paper and even bigger with mat and frame.  It is part of my "WILD" series.  Time to break out of old habits and try something new.  I am using India ink to do the drawing with wide sweeps and splotches, and adding watercolor to the piece.  Great fun!

Art of the Gift!

Busy getting ready for Art of the Gift show on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  My recipe calendars are back after a few years of not doing one!  This time the calendars feature paintings from my Farmers Market Series and some new and old favorite recipes.  Desktop calendars are ready too.  I also will have some small paintings that will be great for holiday decorations or gifts.  Come by to check out my table and the other artwork possibilities and books at this unique artist and author event!

Cabin Flowers from Sketchbook

The day was chilly so time at the dining room table with these sunflowers was the alternative to being out in the sprinkling rain.  We always love our time on Hood Canal.  Lots of great food, time together with family, and the free time to paint at will.

Painting the Henry's Fork

We were fortunate to spend time in June on the Henry's Fork in Island Park.  We camped and fished and painted with our friends the Smiths.  We had another wonderful, memorable time that included great meals, wonderful scenery, and plenty of painting time.  The wildflowers were unbelievable this year!  Fields of Mules Ear stretched to the mountains.  Unbelievable display!
