Day 6 - Cold and Crisp

Got up to -9 degrees this morning!  Good day to stay in and paint! I am working on more pieces for the 30 in 30 Challenge and will be posting them this month.  This is Day 6 and painting!

This piece is one of the Creek Series that I am working on from places along the Big Wood River in and around Ketchum.  My husband is a fly fisherman and takes great reference photos for me while he is out.  Fortunate for me, since it is much too cold for me to set up along the stream.  I have read that vodka in the painting water helps with the cold.  Hmmm.

Underfoot!

More aspens!  This piece is an experiment in negative painting which means that I start with a design and then paint the negative spaces around it adding more leaves as it goes deeper.  Also experimenting with water droplets.  All fun!

Time for Aspens!

Nature Patterns is the name of this latest piece in my Aspen Series.  I placed it today in the Full Moon Gallery at the Twin Falls Center for the Arts.  Stop in the lobby to see it and let me know what you think.  Look closely for the residents of this piece.

Art & Soul in the Magic Valley

Wood River Aspens!

Ok people!  It is time again for Art & Soul!  Come see my painting at Randy Hansen Automotive in Twin Falls. (on Pole Line Road)  If you haven't heard about Art & Soul, it is a community wide art show beginning on Friday, April 18 and ending on May 3.  Art lovers and the people they drag along are invited to go by local businesses to view original art pieces and then vote for favorites.  My entry is number 4-043.  You can pick up a brochure/map at Twin Falls Center for the Arts or stop in and get one at one of the businesses displaying art.  Look around town for the colorful flags and stop by to see what it is all about.  It is a fun way to spend an afternoon!    And then vote for your favorites.  Did I mention that my number is 4-043.  Prizes are big...$32,000 in all.  That's walkin' around money!  Your local artists will appreciate your votes!

A Gathering of Artists

Today is the day for the "Gathering of Artists" Show!  Come to the Tribes Warehouse (302 4th Ave. South in "old town" Twin Falls between 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. to visit with 20 artists showing original works.  I am privileged to be included in this show and have new work to present at this show.  The warehouse is a unique setting for the show, and the experience promises to be an exciting new way to show art in Twin Falls.  Stop by for a glass of wine and enjoy the afternoon with us.

Just finished this painting of the Big Wood River north of Ketchum. Have been working on skills to depict snow and water. I'm into a series...maybe. Definitely need to do the snow dance for the mountains this year.
